Gilfach Gower Farm Luxury Glamping

Reconnect with nature. This is your next luxury staycation

On the foothills of Betws Mountain, in the heart of Carmarthenshire’s (South Wales) rolling green countryside is your next luxury staycation. Guarded by trees and hedgerows, a Mongolian yurt and traditional shepherd’s hut each stand in their own private wild flower meadow… the sound of a trickling stream and the smell of a wood burning stove beckon you in.

A stay at Gilfach Gower is an escape to nature, tranquillity and a sustainable way of farming life.

HER story

Welcome to Gilfach Gower Farm Luxury Glamping and Sustainable Meat

Gilfach Gower has stood at this site since the 1600’s. In 2014 Sarah Gealy, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, and her partner Fed Pereira, fell in love with its charm and became its custodians. For 10 years they’ve tended the land and restored it to a sustainable livestock farm with a small fold of Highland cattle, sheep, pygmy goats, rare breed pigs and chickens.

Covid changed Sarah’s outlook on life and she closed the chapter on her engineering career and took the farm on full time. The original Mongolian yurt and shepherd’s hut are an important part of the farm’s diversification into luxury glamping and staycations. And as a guest you play an important role in keeping sustainable Welsh farming alive.

Check out our recent appearance on BBC’s ‘Escape to the Country’, talking about our move!

Our offering

Leave dew covered footsteps as you step through the wild flowers; walk an old drovers path to Betws mountain; take a pause to smell the crushed leaves underfoot as you walk through dappled woodland shade; stop still as the birds orchestrate their evening display of flight; stare at the stars in the unpolluted night skies.

The yurt with hot tub is available to book all year round. Our brand new shepherd’s hut is now available to book from April to October. Our own meat is available to purchase. If you are booking your stay with us why not ask for one of our legendary BBQ boxes or Breakfast Boxes, all our own meat… sizzling bacon, sausages and eggs freshly laid by the hens that morning.

Gilfach Gower is a small working farm in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. A coal mining town full of heritage and charm. The town has an excellent selection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and pubs. The beautiful market town of Llandeilo is only 15 mins away, packed with visitor attractions and foodie delights. From the farm you can see the Brecon Beacons, local nature reserves and the amazing beaches & coastline of Swansea Bay and the Gower are only a short drive away.

Our area is renowned for its cycling routes; mountain biking in the Brechfa Forest; lots of walks and hikes; and activities and experiences to fill every moment of your day. Or how about a little relaxation with a private yoga session with a qualified instructor on the farm.

It is stunningly peaceful and quiet… yet only 15 mins from the M4 motorway and 5 mins from the town centre. So no need to worry if you have forgotten some essentials.

Sustainable Meat

Sustainable & ethical Beef, Lamb, Pork
We love our animals. We are bound to them on a promise that we will look after them, keep them safe, nurture and provide for them. In return they give us exceptional meat. Our Highland cattle are grass fed and have access to trees and rough forage. We never rush our lamb and give them over a year to develop an intensely rich flavour (hogget). And our rare breed pigs live a glorious outdoor life in amongst dappled shade rooting for treats.
